A lot of people don't join the hype to always have the latest iPhone. They are satisfied with the device they have. Yet it turns out that something can be wrong with older devices. For example, Apple recently acknowledged a problem with certain types of iPhone. In some cases, an iPhone 6S or 6S Plus may refuse to turn on.

iPhone 6S and 6S Plus may have issues starting up
There appears to be a malfunctioning component in some iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models. These devices were manufactured between October 2018 and August 2019. The defective component can cause the device to stop starting up. Apple does not report which component it is. However, it would be a limited series of serial numbers. Via iTunes (connect your iPhone to your Mac and click in iTunes on the phone icon in the menu bar)

You can't figure out your serial number? Then you can also look on your SIM card for the IMEI number, because you can also use that. Apple says on the relevant support page: "If you need support but don't see the Settings menu, you can use the IMEI/MEID number instead of the serial number".
The iPhone 6s Plus was no longer sold through the Apple Retail Store after the announcement of the iPhone XS and iPhone XR, but it may have remained in the range of some providers. Apple also sold these models in certain regions, such as India.

What should you do if your iPhone doesn't start up?
First check if the serial number of your iPhone is in the list. If it is, you can go to the Apple Retail Store or an Authorized Service Provider to have your device repaired. If you live a long way from the Apple Retail Store, you can ship your device and have it mailed to you. If you've paid for a repair before, you can request a refund.
